Great words! I particularly like ‘Monstrous’ because I think it shares a root word with ‘Demonstrate’ i.e. the monster reveals something about the people who despise it.

    other email arrivals:

    Frowsty (meaning musty)
Nincompoop (apparently derived from NonCom as in non-commissioned officer?)
    Gubbins
Antediluvian (before the flood i.e. very old)

and for those of you wondering what cloacal means, it is something to do with a dark recess, like a cave…

Thank you all for contributing your words, many of whom have been selected. You are all making fine use of our national vocabulary.

(note: We continue to recieve entries from the Verb audience mailing list, so Verbeys – don’t hold back!)
